AMA KELSY

Writer & Model

Ama [awe-maw] is a writer and model based in Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television from Sheridan College and a Master of Arts in English from Toronto Metropolitan University. Ama proudly works as a writer in the city, using her life experience as a Toronto-born child of immigrant parents as inspiration for her fiction works. She has published work in the White Wall Review entitled “The Saddest Thing in The World” and has honed her skills by becoming an Editor for the same publication.

Her skills do not stop at fiction writing as Ama has written and produced various short films in her arsenal. She prides herself on being an enthusiastic and encouraging collaborator and works to be a light for writers and storytellers who come after her.

Currently, Ama is writing a novel focused on the realities of womanhood and shame attached to motherhood, secrecy and death. It is a love letter to her grandmother and mother and Ama believes that it will be the next novel to launch her career as a novelist.
